December 2014 Newsletter 5
By now, the 22nd Meiringspoort Half Marthon, held on 11 Oct 2014 in De Rust, is only in your heart. I trust that the experience to participate in this well organized race, created memories for life. Hope you recovered well from the race. Already back in training? Well done!
This year there were 900 entries available for the 10km. And 2100 entries available for the 21.1km. The entries was gasped within 48 hours. In total 2501 people registered. For those who run a personal best, well done. You deserve the excellent time. Many runners entered the 21.1km and ended up doing the 10km. This corrupts the finish times and stats and results in a lot of additional work for time keepers to get the results out quickly and accurately. This chip system will again be used at the 2015 event. Mats will also be placed on the route to pick up the “cheats” entering the 21.1km, but doing the 10km. These will result in disqualification and the potential barring from future participation.
Online entries open on 5 May 2015. The 23rd Meiringspoort Half Marathon will take place on 17 Oct 2015, De Rust. Keep your eye on the website for more information.
Remember to book your accommodation for 2015 in advance. Visit www.meiringspoort21.co.za/accommodation for links to accommodation available.
